4 mph Mobility Scooters – “Class 2”
Class 2 Mobility Scooters with an upper speed limit of 4 mph are for pavement use and are not permitted to travel on the road unless there is no pavement or you are crossing the road.
They range from small, portable versions that you can easily fit into the boot of a car, to medium size scooters with suspension and a reasonable range.
While there is no legal requirement to have an insurance policy for a Mobility Scooter, we highly recommend that you purchase one in case of accident or injury. There are a number of insurance companies that specialise in insurance policies for mobility vehicles and we can help point you in the right direction.
Road Tax
Class 2, 4 mph Mobility Scooters do not need to be registered with DVLA, nor do they need to display a tax disc or registration plate.
