Stairlift Battery Replacement

Is your stairlift becoming intermittent?
Is it safe to use?

A common misconception about stairlifts, is that they are powered by mains electricity. However this is not true. All modern UK stairlifts are actually battery operated with a small wall charger supplying a constant charge to the batteries. These batteries have a rough life-span of 2-3 years and when this approaches the end, your stair lift will start to fail and possibly breakdown just when you need it the most.

Stairlift Battery FAQs

How much does it cost to run a stairlift?

Next to nothing! Stairlifts are extremely energy efficient – about the same expenditure as boiling a kettle.

Should I ever switch my stairlift off?

No! You should never switch your stairlift off at the mains – even if you’re away from home. The mains power charges the battery so that it’s ready for use when you’re back.

What happens if there is a power cut?

Stairlifts are run by two batteries on most stairlifts they use 12volt 7AH, so they will not be affected by power outages. The batteries charge at the mains when the stairlift is not in use.

Can I use my stairlift straight away?

Yes! As soon as our engineer has installed the batteries and carried out a safety test, it’s yours to use as you see fit.

Our experienced engineers only cover YOUR area and are NOT sent miles away to fix someone else’s problem. Which means they are always close by, ready to help.
