Basic Facts on Stairlifts – Newbury Mobility
While the idea of selecting a Stairlift and having it fitted may be daunting at first, it often proves to be a lot easier than you think.<
Price is often the major concern of course, but rest assured that we can normally offer the best and most competitive price the first time. Our aim is to use our years of experience to make sure your Stairlift is right for your individual needs and will satisfy your future requirements.
You will have a greater choice of Stairlifts if your staircase is not curved or unusual in shape. Prices for a new, basic Stairlift start at £1395.00.
Stairlifts take up little space and can usually be installed in only a matter of hours. We can install and service new Stairlifts in Newbury, Thatcham, Oxford, Swindon, Reading and surrounding areas.
Whether you need a straight or a curved Stairlift, we will give you a FREE inspection survey and help guide you towards the best choice for you. We will then quote you a price but rest assured, you are under no obligation or pressure to buy. If you decide to go ahead, our engineers will fit the Stairlift at a convenient time and with little disturbance. And as a special promotional offer, we will give you your first yearly maintenance service FREE, saving a further £69.
A final note about cost. While the initial outlay might seem high at first, bear in mind how it compares to adapting your home so that your bedroom and bathroom are downstairs. Or, even worse, having to move home completely.
It’s a small price to pay in order to use your own staircase independently with ease, safety and comfort.

Stairlifts That Last
Stairlifts are built to last, with low maintenance and high reliability. They run on maintenance-free DC power packs, which are automatically recharged at the end of every trip you make up or down the stairs. So even if there is a power cut, the Stairlift will still glide smoothly to its destination. Most Stairlifts can be fitted in a couple of hours.
Some of the Stairlifts we prefer to install
- Handicare Minivator 2000
- Handicare Minivator 950
- Handicare Minivator 1000
- Acorn 120
- FreeLift Van Gogh
- FreeLift Rembrant
- Brooks Lincoln
All Stairlifts now operate on DC current. Most have two small batteries, so in the event of a power cut, your Stairlift will still work for about 10-15 trips up and down your staircase. Batteries usually last for two to three years before you need to replace them. Although this is a fairly simple task on most types of Stairlift, it is best to have them changed by an experienced engineer.
Guarantees and Warranties
All new Stairlifts are guaranteed for a period of 24 months from the installation date. The guarantee covers you for all mechanical failures through defects in manufacture, and also covers labour charges for the same period.
End of Life Disposal. Since the introduction of WEEE regulations it is now necessary to dispose of electrical/electronic items responsibly. We offer a service whereby we will collect or dismantle any Stairlift that is no longer required and dispose of it in compliance with existing regulations. Just contact us and we will arrange to remove your old equipment for a nominal fee.
